Maui Health System Assumes Operation Of Maui County Community Hospitals In Historic State Endeavor
WAILUKU, Hawaii — July 1, 2017 — Maui Memorial Medical Center, Kula Hospital, and Lanai Community Hospital officially transferred operations from state provider Hawaii Health System Corporation to Maui Health System today. The historic transfer was commemorated by staff and leadership in a private blessing ceremony at each of the three community hospital facilities.
Maui Health System will continue to operate these facilities as community hospitals and associated clinics, serving all patients, regardless of their health insurance coverage. More than 97 percent of the facilities’ current staff will continue with Maui Health System. Trusted community physicians will continue to provide care to residents and visitors.

Maui Health System is affiliated with Kaiser Permanente and supported by its industry-leading technology, including Kaiser Permanente’s comprehensive electronic medical record system that enables physicians and providers to view patient data in real time, making it easier for care teams to deliver coordinated care.
