Maui Health System Names Community Hospital Veteran Michael Rembis as CEO & Hospital Administrator

Wailuku, Hawaii (July 31, 2017) – Maui Health System today announced that Michael Rembis, FACHE, has been named CEO and Hospital Administrator. Michael brings more than 35 years of community hospital leadership and hospital operations experience to Maui. He will assume his duties at Maui Health System on August 21st.

Michael comes to Maui Health System from Paladin Healthcare Management, where he served as CEO, and Avanti Hospitals where he served as CEO. As CEO of Paladin Healthcare he provided hospital leadership and management and as CEO for Avanti Hospitals he provided leadership for Memorial Hospital of Gardena, Community Hospital of Huntington Park, Coast Plaza Hospital, and East Los Angeles Doctors Hospital.

Michael’s hospital leadership experience also includes holding top positions at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center, Riverside Community Hospital, Centinela Freeman Health System, and JFK Medical Center.

Michael earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and holds a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Southern California.

Michael replaces Ray Hahn, who will leave Maui Health System next month to serve as senior vice president and COO for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals in Hawaii. Ray recently led the transfer of Maui Memorial Medical Center, Kula Hospital and Lanai Community Hospital to Maui Health System.
