Coordinated care

Maui Health System uses the world’s largest civilian electronic health information system – Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect® – to deliver evidence-based care. It lets clinicians quickly and securely access comprehensive patient information, including the patient’s medical history, clinical notes and reports, imaging and lab results, known allergies, and prescribed medications documented while receiving care at a Maui Health System hospital.

KP HealthConnect®:

  • Enables different members of a patient’s care team to simultaneously view patient data in real time, making it easier for those caregivers to coordinate care.
  • Is able to alert providers using the system about potential drug interactions or adverse side effects to optimize patient safety and quality of care.
  • Features built-in treatment guidelines and protocols available to support effective clinical decision-making.
  • Allows patients to easily access information about their hospital stays and ongoing health conditions online.

Quality of care reporting

Maui Health System participates in a number of independent reports on quality of care and service, including the Five-Star Quality Rating System for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, and The Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Score. All of these reports are available to the public, so patients can better understand the quality of care delivered at Maui Memorial Medical Center, Kula Hospital, and Lanai Community Hospital.
